ADOPTION PROCESS

At 4 weeks of age, our puppies will have a vet pre-check to confirm a satisfactory level of health and identify possible defects or medical issues. Following this primary vet visit, they will be listed available for adoption on our website.

Puppies will be reserved for adoption on a first-come, first-serve basis with primary contact through email. Between work and our 6 children, phone calls are nearly impossible to return within a reasonable timeframe.

To reserve your puppy, we require a $200 non-refundable down payment via Paypal. We will email you a Paypal invoice that includes instructions on the Paypal payment process requiring either a credit or debit card. The deposit must be made within 24 hours or you forfeit the adoption. We do not accept checks.

The remaining balance will be due at pickup in cash. If any remaining balance payments are made through PayPal, there will be an additional 4% processing fee charge added to it.

Typically, puppies are ready for their new homes at about 8 weeks old, the exact day may change in light of each litters individual needs.

We do not ship, but we are willing to drive up to 50 miles no charge to meet up with adoptive families for pickup. On occasion, we may be able to drive further distances for a fee. Primarily, pickups will take place at Evergreen Hill.

Q: Can I be put on your waitlist?
A: No, Evergreen Hill does not use a waitlist system. For many reasons, a waitlist system is ineffective in fulfilling families adoption wants and needs in a timely, fair fashion. Also, we simply don't feel comfortable taking someone's money with the promise we can deliver specific puppies at specific times. Nature doesn't work that way. Everything is dependent on whether a mother cycles, whether she gets bred, whether she has a successful delivery, whether healthy puppies of your desired color and gender are present in the litter, etc. I also feel its inappropriate to limit our adoptive families' choices by making them prematurely pick what mother, color, and gender they want before ever viewing a live, healthy puppy. Your personal choice may change over time and you'll fall in love with the puppy you least expect when you see their cute face.

Q: Can I see the puppies before you post them on your website?
A: No, Evergreen Hill operates on a fair, first-come, first-serve basis. We understand there are many legitimate reasons for why someone may want a sneak peek or first look, but we're not comfortable favoring any one adoptive family over another. On occasion, there may be a puppy marked reserved from the get-go meaning Evergreen Hill is adopting them ourselves.

Q: Can I visit the puppies before deciding?
A: Sometimes. No one is allowed to visit until our puppies have received their first shot at 6 weeks (no dogs are allowed to visit). If by chance there is a puppy available for adoption after 6 weeks of age, a visit may be able to be arranged at our convenience. We have several families from a distance and out-of-state that comfortably make their adoption decisions via our website and emailing with us.

Q: What is the price of adopting a puppy?
A: Adoption fees fluctuate. Adoption fees may be higher or lower than past litters, they may be higher or lower than their littermates. The fluctuating price is due to availability/demand, quality of adherence to breed standards, coloring, lineage, etc. Adoption fees are not set prior to a puppy's availability. When a puppy is available, their adoption fee with be visible on their posts.
